หลวงปู่แผ้ว ปวโร มีนามเดิมว่า แผ้ว บุญวัฒน์ อีกทั้งท่านมีชื่อเล่นๆเรียกกันว่า แกละ ท่านถือกำเนิดเกิดเม่อวันแรม 11 ค่ำ เดือน 11 ปีกุน หรือตรงกับวันที่ 7 เดือนพฤศจิกายน พ.ศ.2466 บิดาชื่อ พาน มารดาชื่อ จุ้ย ท่านเกิดที่บ้านหนองม่วง ต.เตาอิฐ อ.บางแพ จ.ราชบุรี เป็นบุตรคนโตในจำนวนพี่น้อง 4 คน และเมื่อตอนที่ท่านอายุได้ 2 ปี ทาางครอบครัวก็ได้ย้านมาอยู่ที่หมู่บ้่านหลักเมตร ต.ทุงขวาง อ.กำแพงแสน จ.นครปฐม
ในปี พ.ศ. 2474 โยมพ่อพาไปฝากเรียนหนังสือกับหลวงพ่อหงส์เจ้าอาวาสวัดหนองม่วง เรียนอยู่ ป.3 ก็ต้องออกไปช่วยครอบครัวทำงาน ในวันที่ 15 มิถุนายน พ.ศ.2489 ท่านก็อุปสมบทเป็นพระภิกษุสงฆ์ทีวัดหนองปลาไหล อ.กำแพงแสน จ.นครปฐม โดยมีพระครูสุกิจธรรมสร(หลวงพ่อหว่าง) อดีตเจ้าอาวาสวัดกำแพงแสนเป็นอุปัชฌาย์หลังจากศึกษาพระธรรมวินัยพิจารณาคำสอนของครูบาอาจารย์อย่างถ่องแท้แล้วจึงตัดสินใจถวายชีวิตอยู่ในพระพุทธศาสนาตลอดไป หลวงปู่ท่านจำพรรษาอยู่ ณ วัดหนองปลาไหล 1 เดือน จึงได้ลาอาจารย์ ไปจำพรรษา ณ วัดหนองม่วง เป็นเวลา 8 ปี
พ.ศ.2497 หลวงปู่ท่านได้มาจำพรรษาอยู่วัดสว่างชาติประชาบำรุงและในปี พ.ศ.2502 หลวงปู่ท่านก็ได้มาจำพรรษาอยู่ที่วัดกำแพงแสน หลวงปู่ท่านชอบนั่งปฏิบัติกรรมฐานมาก ชอบความสงบสันโดษ ไม่ยึดติดในลาภยศสักการะ มีวัตรปฉิบัติงดงาม ศีลาจารวัตรเรียบร้อยปฏิปทามั่นคงน่าเคารพ เป็นที่ยอมรับและเคารพเลื่อมใสของคนทั่วไป
ในปี พ.ศ.2524 หลวงปู่ดุลย์ แห่ง วัดบูรพาราม จ.สุรินทร์ ได้มาพักจำพรรษา ณ วัดกำแพงแสน หลวงปู่แผ้วจึงได้รับการถ่ายทอดวิชากัมมัฏฐานจากหลวงปู่ดุลย์ ดังนั้นหลวงปู่แผ้วจึงมักจะให้โอวาทสั่งสอนบรรดาลูกศิษย์เพื่อนำไปใช้ในหลักชีวิตประจำวันจนประสบความสำเร็จ
ปุจจุบันท่านได้มาจำพรรษาอยู่ที่วัดรางหมันหรือวัดประชาราษำฎร์บำรุง เพื่อจัดสร้างพระอุโบสถให้วัดรางหมัน หลวงปู่แผ้ว ปวโร ท่านยอดเยี่ยมด้านคงกระพันชาตรี เปี่ยมด้วยเมตตามหานิยมยิ่งนัก มีความเข้มขลังยิ่งนัก เกิดปาฏิหาริย์บ่อยครังมากๆ จนทำให้ทุกคนทีเห็นเหตุการณ์ต่างพากันกล่าวขัวญถึง
ต่อมาในปี พ.ศ.2551 จนถึงปัจจุบันแผ้วได้ย้ายมาจำพรรษา ที่วัดรางหมัน ท่านได้นำความเจริญมาสู่วัดรางหมันอย่างมาก สร้างอุโบสถ สร้างวิหาร และเสนาสนะต่่างๆ จนเจริญหูเจริญตาแก่คนที่พบเห็น
ไม่ว่าหลวงปู่จะออกวัตถุมงคลรุ่นใดก็ล้วนแล้วได้รับความนิยมทั้งสิ้น หลายครั้งที่ลูกศิษย์ลองยิงแล้วไม่ออก หลายหนที่ประสบเหตุการณ์แล้วแคล้วคลาดปลอดภัยจนเป็นที่ยอมรับและยืนยันกันโดยทั่วไป
ลักษณะของ "เหรียญนังพาน หลวงปู่แผ้ว พ.ศ.2551" นั้นเป็นรูปใบเสมา ด้านหน้ามีลายพญานาคราชเป็นขอบเหรียญสวยงาม ช่วงหลางเหรียญปรากฏหลวงปู่แผ้วนั่งสมาธิเต็มองค์อยู่บนพาน มีอักษรจารึกว่า "คณะศิษย์ อบต. สร้างถวายบูชาคุณ หลวงปู่แผ้ว ปวโร" ขอบเหรียญด้านล่างมีข้อความว่า " ฉลองอายุครบ 85 ปี พ.ศ.2551 " เขียนว่า "วัดประชาราษฏร์บำรุง (รางหมัน) นครปฐม" ราคาเช่าหาสำหรับเหรียญนี้ไม่แรงเลยเพียง 1000ต้นๆ เท่านั้นเอง เก็บๆ พระเครื่องของท่านเอาไว้เถอะ ไม่เสียหายแน่นอนคอนเฟิร์ม
